Home bound durians!

Oh yes. I am back in town for some serious business! That one season in a year, Durians'!!!!!!!

Do you know that Durian trees take 5-10years to grow before bearing any flowers? The peak season is usually during the typical summer time (June-September). Its the king of fruits and a must try delicacy in Malaysia if anyone happens to visit!

Durian treeeeeeeees at my grandfather's orchard! This is the only time of the year where we would drive all the way here every morning without fail! Haha.

Look what I have found! It was pretty hard to find for durians around the bushes. Their colour and thorns made well camouflages!

I was constantly worrying about falling durian with me underneath it! Though this hat might not withstand the impact, at least I am having one! Haha! Grandpa had his construction hat on which was way cooler and safer than this one of course.

Poor thing.. I guess it must have fallen off the durian tree during one of those stormy night these days.

Couldn't seem to find any trace of eggs though, it was probably an abandon nest anyway. Well I put it on a nearby mangosteen tree instead.

Durians durians eveywhere! I wonder why didn't I appreciate those younger days when I get to come often. All we kids did was complaining about the heat and mosquitos.

Yet now, all I felt was the happiness and satisfaction when I found durians on my own effort without grandpa telling me which tree to look underneath for! He was surprised and happy when he saw me bringing more and more durians out of the thick bushes.

I remembered when we were young, we would stay in the car like pampered children who were forced to follow the adults to help out at the orchard. Now, I am never happier getting to come and pick some durians on my own!! My grandparents even had to wait for me till I make sure all durians were collected! Haha.

This is just 1/10 which we have collected for today! (Haha today's total count of durians collected : 65! Super awesome!)

Oh did I mentioned I climbed the mangosteen tree today to pluck these? I surely learned a thing or two, mangosteen tree branches are pretty strong despite being so thin! I had the ripe one right away and it taste just so sweet! Ahhhhhhh definitely one of my favourite fruit!

I realise we can experience life moments everywhere if we just allow ourselves to be adventurous even in our own backyard! P.S.: There isn't many mosquitos surrounding me anymore this time around, probably because grandpa's orchard is the only farm with fruits and everywhere else has been converted into palm oil estates.

Check out how cuteeeeeeeeee is this baby durian! After today I finally realise how tiring is it for both my grandparents whom are in their 80's to search for durians every morning without fail just so we could eat it fresh! Grandpa even got his palm bruised for opening durians everyday.. :/

By the way, my owner just told me that her brother bought 4 durians for S$100! Its crazyyyyyyy! All these while I was having it for free! Seriously gotta appreciate my grandparents' efforts.

Mermaid!

was back in KL last weekend on a north bound free ride from Jin. Lucky me I don't have to squeeze with other people in the bus this time, the back seat was all mine!

The random idea of having an all white pants dinner struck us while we were chatting in car! Hahaha ie: having everyone to wear taekwondo pants for dinner the next day! Though in the end, only half of us wore because everyone basically lost their uniforms after graduating from college. Lol.

This was totally akward. Everyone wasn't looking right somehow.

That's more like it! TTT (TARC Taekwondo Team) forever!! Ps: Had a backache right after that side kick! Totally  cracking my bones! Lol.

Haha who in their sane mind would pose side kick right beside the McCafé signboard other than TTT? Oh how I missed those days in collage!

.........

Having said about old friends, my class representative during college is getting married!! So happy for her that she finally found her happiness. I always hope that everyone could find their true love someday and live happily ever after! (In real life, you just gotta work it out)

Bernice looks perfect as always in her denim maxi! Always secretly wish I had her long legs! Haha! Wishing you all the best in your future undertakings and may you be blessed with all the happiness in the world! Happy Wedding ah Ber!

Mermaid chapter..

Since childhood, I have always loved Disney's little mermaid, Ariel. Never knew someday I could have fins tail like hers too! Its totally like a dream come true getting to dress like a mermaid and swim underwater!

The mermaid mission is to promote the environmental awareness of keeping our oceans clean. Its first of its kind in Malaysia and yet to be in Singapore I guess.

In order to make this mission a success they basically need to form a team of mermaids who can swim well and then go on their duties to protect the oceans! How cool is that!

Credits to a mermaid friend, Sheryl, I got the chance to sign up for the crash course at Dolphine Lee Aquatics in Klang Executive Club which is strategically located just right beside Jusco Bukit Raja.

It started off with an introduction of the mission with videos and some talks and then we get to pick the colours we want for the fins! Its basically made from the same material as swimwear and its very stretchable. At the bottom of it, its a mermaid tail shaped flipper connecting both legs. Like a pair of diving shoes, except that its inseparable.

For starters like me who can't swim butterfly style, its pretty hard to move ur butt in the water and swim like waves. Haha or was it just me!?

Well anyway I started off pretty badly and it took me quite a while to get the posture right.

I can't swim well in it but apperantly i pose pretty well for the camera! Lol

We had so much fun swimming around like a real mermaid! And nope, I don't feel sore eyed probably because I was busy with my new fins haha.

Anybody interested? #themermaidmission

The Fault in Our Stars

Soooooo I downloaded the e-book for this one. Had to make sure I read it before watching the movie! I had a lot of deep thoughts reading this book. It didn't teared me particularly but the truthful words written in it certainly made me wondered what's left to do after the checklist? Or probably its just me, who's more of an outcome oriented person.

However, I did found a reasoning to most circumstances in life which most people were disturbed, subconsciously.

I came across this in P3, my ACCA paper but never seem to connect things up until now.

Have you ever wondered why people do the things they do which sometimes doesn't make sense at all when you think about it? Well think again in Maslow's sense of needs' hierarchy.

My peers are usually at Security/ Social needs levels. Most already have a job but often struggled in getting a comfortable life with the standard of living in KL particularly. When people work too hard for security, they don't have the time to maintain social needs. (And that's why relationship between working adults and students can never work out without struggles and hard work)

However, I don't think this applies to everyone. Maybe some people just have to experience a certain level in order to proceed to the next. Like esteem needs, one can only know self-worth when one gain and lose something in life. For instance, Love.

Its all about life experiences. It doesn't necessary need to be yours sometimes, you just need to experience it to realise your space for improvements.

Somehow, love may seem right at a certain point in life with all the right circumstances but life's nothing but one's action and decisions. You cant change the outcome but you can always change your perspectives.

So start living your life to the fullest and give all your best for everything you do!

I'd like to think I looked cool like that! Lol. Xoxo

Road Trippin'

Last weekend I went on a short getaway to the opposite land and I actually cross the 1.7km Johor-Singapore causeway by foot! Lol!

Hahaha no choice but I really couldn't be bothered waiting in an approximately 1.7km long queue! Besides, there's always a first (and last!) time! Lol. Do you know that the causeway is less than a decade to a century old now?

                              …

When in JB... Time for fooooood! Credits to HQ, I had my craving fixed for my Unagi meal at Nijyumaru 二重丸, its so worth it for Unagi at only RM26! Its like (whatttt!) S$10?

Too bad we didn't make reservation and were given only 45mins to finish our food. Lol. Nevertheless, its highly recomended and I am definately visiting again for its sashimi next time!

I realise Johor is quite a developed state. Where else do you find an east west highway across the state in Malaysia except Penang maybe?

Well it short cut our supposedly 2hour journey to only 45mins to Desaru Beach! Yeahhhhhh!

Blue sky.. and that crystal clear seawater.. Seriously didn't expect the seawater to be so clean. Not when its part of the peninsular at least. I always thought nice beaches in Malaysia only exist at the Islands.

I love natural occurance like this sand wave. It somewhat brings me Zen.

Crabs crabs crabs! Baby hemit crab!

About half an hour drive away, under the foot of Mount Muntahak is where the Kota Tinggi Waterfall lays. I have been to a lot of waterfalls but never once in my home country. We don't always get to see waterfalls in the rainforest, not to mention to swim in it! (It's even equipped with a stupid plastic waterslide by the end of trail.)

The lower part of the falls where most families hang around.

Tadaaaa! View from the edge of the lower falls.

And finally, the higher falls where there's cleaner flow with nice shades to relax.

I found a natural tub of my size! Lol.

And my host for the day! Thank you Jin!

In the end I came back home with a super tan skin and rashes all over the tan! Sooooooo itchy! Lesson learned: Always remember to put on sunblock outdoor! Lol! I bet I ll look like a cherokee in a few days.. Like that!

Pretty cool I would say.. ;)

Assumptions

I came across a picture last year of a pink hair lady with heavy make up which looks like a doll who had then just gave birth to her baby boy.

Her name is Wendy Aka Xia Xue (下雪). At first I was curious as why is this girl so famous. After reading to some of her entries and her FAQ section on her blog, I realise haaaaa! She's that typical Taurean who doesn't give a shit about what others think about her and just do her stuff.

Notably, she happens to be very very honest about her life which inspires me a lot. I always have that feeling of guilt whenever I had to say or do things against my will. That's why I always end up being in a contradict situation. To do or not to do, weighing in too much of considerations and consequences in my own assumptions of what's important but in the end it actually means nothing to someone else. Always making the wrong choices.

I believe most girls are like that. Hesitating too much and give in to self insecurity which in the end leads to trusting issues in a relationship. I was once told off by someone, do not manipulate the situation to get what you want. I guess this is what possessive maniac like me has to learn, to know what you want out of life and out of a relationship and then choose to either walk away or change the way you think.

Unless self understood can be attained, it would be hard to avoid hurting people you care about with the assumptions of circumstances that one has in mind.

So I have made up my mind since I started this blog. To start fulfilling what I need in order to know what I really want out of life. Change my negative circumstances and change myself in the process.

Bone Marrow Donor Program

I signed up for the Bone Marrow Donor Program two days ago. The process is rather easy. Only one form to fill up and I receive my swab kit after a few days from the "Match For Life" non-profit organisation.

Basically the swab kit is used to perform a simple cheek swab in collecting a tissue sample for analysis. The odds of being a match to a patience is 1 out of 20,000. So basically, if someone comes up as a match, very likely he/she could be the only person who can save the patient. Which I beliave is a good karma because what goes around comes around.

So, basically the cheek swabing tools includes two cotton swabs and their holder which look like this:

What I did was swabing the inside of my cheek rolling up and down exerting enough pressure to make the cheek bulge out while keeping my mouth open and repeated for another side.

The swab kit includes a return envelope for the DNA samples to mail back to them.

And tadaaaaa! I am all set for the first step! Why am I doing this? Well as I said, what goes around comes around.. I believe everyone would want to do a good cause but how many of us are actually taking action to do something?

I don't do cash donation because I don't believe that 100% of the money would actually reach the needy ones. But when it comes to life and death, people wouldn't cheat your blood or bone marrow for that matter.

Do visit www.bmdp.org if you wish to sign up as a bone marrow donor as well.
